A useful fit for

A research-based fit for shoppers who will use its range of five magnetic attachments and want sensor-led heat adaptation or attachment-specific setting memory, with the exact operating combinations understood.

The main tradeoff

It is a corded 120 V dryer at a listed 1.8 lb, and its most distinctive modes are not all available at once: Scalp protect overrides custom heat settings and disables attachment learning, while the diffuser disables Pause detect.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can this package help shape natural waves or curls?

The exact Prussian Blue/Rich Copper package includes a Wave+Curl diffuser. Dyson describes Dome mode as enhancing natural waves or curls and Diffuse mode as adding root volume for textured curls and coils. Those are different use modes of one supplied attachment, not a guarantee of a particular finish; hair length, technique and drying routine still matter.

Does its scalp feature work with every attachment and setting-memory feature?

No. The US manual lists Scalp protect compatibility for the Gentle air attachment and Styling concentrator. Dyson says Scalp protect adjusts heat based on distance and overrides custom heat settings; attachment learning is used with Scalp protect off. Choose the priority that matters more instead of assuming both can run together.

Is the dryer a reasonable choice if weight matters during a longer routine?

The manufacturer lists the dryer at 1.8 lb before you account for its cord or the attached tool. That number is a useful screening figure, not an ergonomic test. If arm fatigue is a concern, compare this figure against lighter models and, where possible, handle the exact dryer before choosing.

Does this exact edition include a place to store the dryer and tools?

The Prussian Blue/Rich Copper listing says it includes a Presentation case and names it in the box. Do not assume every Nural color/package contains the same case; verify the finish and package contents on the specific offer.

A feature-rich dryer whose modes need to be understood as a system

This assessment is for the exact US Dyson Supersonic Nural hair dryer in Prussian Blue/Rich Copper, not every Nural color or package. Dyson’s page identifies the finish and lists a Presentation case and five magnetic attachments. It does not show a distinct colorway item number in the page text I could inspect, so HD16 is used only as the family code from the US manual, not as a seller SKU. This is a document-based review: I did not use the dryer, measure its results, or test its controls.

The standout idea is not simply more settings; the Nural senses which tool is attached and how the dryer is being used. Dyson lists 1,600 W, 120 V, 1.8 lb, an 8.6-foot cord and 13.3 L/s airflow for this edition. The US guide specifies three airflow settings, four heat settings and a press-and-hold Cold shot. It also gives a maximum normal operating temperature of 105°C. These are manufacturer-listed values, not independent measurements, and they do not tell you what temperature reaches your hair during your technique.

Scalp protect, attachment learning and Pause detect are not interchangeable

Scalp protect uses a Time-of-Flight sensor to estimate distance and automatically reduce heat as the dryer approaches hair. The useful catch is compatibility: the US user guide marks this mode for the Gentle air attachment and Styling concentrator, not for the supplied comb, diffuser or Flyaway attachment. Dyson also says Scalp protect overrides custom heat settings. If you want the sensor-led heat change, think of that as a particular attachment-and-control plan rather than a universal setting layered over every tool.

Attachment learning is a separate convenience. A Hall sensor recognizes a magnetic attachment and returns to its last-used heat and airflow settings. Dyson’s instructions say to turn Scalp protect off to use attachment learning. That makes the choice concrete: favor automatic distance-responsive heat with one of its two compatible attachments, or use attachment-specific remembered settings with Scalp protect off. It is not accurate to promise both benefits in the same routine at once.

Pause detect is another distinct behavior. The accelerometer senses when the machine is put down, then deactivates the heater and reduces airflow and noise. It does not make the dryer silent, and the manual advises waiting for the motor sound to ramp down before lifting your hand. The diffuser is an exception: Dyson’s compatibility information says Pause detect does not operate with it. The finder therefore treats diffuser styling and Pause detect as incompatible essentials rather than combining their benefits on paper.

The five supplied tools cover different styling jobs

For natural texture, the Wave+Curl diffuser has two modes. Dyson describes Dome mode as enhancing natural waves or curls and Diffuse mode as adding root volume for textured curls and coils. It is one included attachment with two airflow arrangements; whether either suits a shopper depends on technique and routine.

The Wide-tooth comb is intended to detangle, shape and lengthen curly or coily hair. The Gentle air attachment spreads airflow for gentler drying, while the wider, thinner Styling concentrator directs air for precision work. The Flyaway attachment uses Coanda airflow for a smooth finish and is specified for dry, straight or straightened hair. These are manufacturer-described purposes, not outcomes I can promise for a particular texture, length or technique. The exact edition lists all five, but a marketplace offer may bundle another set; match the blue/copper color and case contents before treating an offer as equivalent.

Weight, cord and voltage are the less glamorous fit checks

At a listed 1.8 lb before the cord or attachment, weight deserves attention if your arm tires during sectioning. That figure cannot predict balance or comfort, so handle the exact dryer if possible and compare dryer-only weights on the same basis. The 8.6-foot cord provides reach, but this remains a tethered appliance.

The page lists 120 V. Dyson’s US hair-dryer guidance says a dryer is engineered for the voltage of the country where it was purchased, so this US edition should not be assumed to adapt to international voltage. A plug adapter changes the plug shape, not the appliance’s voltage requirement. If you travel, verify the destination supply and manual before packing it. The included Presentation case is a real storage benefit for this exact colorway, but it does not convert a full-size 120 V dryer into a travel model.

Routine care and the limits of the evidence

The US guide says to check the filter monthly or when the LEDs call attention to it. It instructs the owner to unplug the dryer and let it cool first, then use a lint-free cloth or soft brush on the removable cage and mesh; it specifically warns not to use water on the mesh or press too hard. That regular access is part of ownership, especially if styling products or loose hair accumulate around the intake. Follow the current guide supplied with the machine rather than improvising a cleaning method.

Dyson markets fast drying and intelligent heat control, but I have not independently verified speed, sound, hair condition or finish. There is no measured comparison here to show the sensors justify the cost for every routine. Dyson describes Nural as adding Scalp protect, attachment learning and Pause detect to older Supersonic models. It says previous Supersonic attachments generally fit except the Wide-tooth comb, but do not enable Nural’s attachment learning. Confirm each attachment’s revision and compatibility.

Bottom line: this edition is most compelling if you will use its tools and understand the mode limits. It is less so if you need dual voltage, a simpler dryer or a strict weight ceiling below 1.8 lb. Before ordering, check the exact finish, 120 V rating, attachment list, case, current safety notices, seller and return terms. This review establishes neither current price or stock nor hands-on performance.
